Want to throw an amazing "pinterest worthy" birthday party for your child but feel like you can't because you are just not crafty enough, too busy, or it's just too stressful? I am here to tell you that you don't have to be crafty, you will have time, and it doesn't need to be stressful. Want to know how?
Let's start by remembering why we throw these parties? We're celebrating a life, another year, reflecting on their last year, and looking forward to the next. If you ask me that's a pretty good reason to care about the details, making it special, and most of all...memorable. It's not a big production, but a personalized one.

The first thing you to need to do is start planning. When you have a plan you will eliminate a lot of stress. I recommend starting the planning process three months out.
Pick a theme, get input from your child on what type of theme they would like? Unless they are too young, or its a surprise of course. Once you have your theme, use a planning tool to keep you organized.
I like Trello.
Next start getting ideas from Pinterest and start PINNING. Think of what you like for these items listed:
Homemade cake 8 inch pan from amazon $5, fake flowers from hobby lobby, cake stand in dollar section at target
Now, once you have gathered all your inspiration, you can start making your purchases and get to work. Decide what items you will need to make yourself, if any. Schedule a couple of things to check off your list each week on your planning tool. PLAN.PLAN.PLAN! This is how you throw an unforgettable party free of stress.

For the food, ordering pizza or sandwiches is always a great idea. There is so much going on at kid's birthday parties and the last thing you need to worry about is preparing a ton of food for everyone. Just keep it SIMPLE. This will allow you to engage with your guests, and for you, the host to enjoy the party too!
Birthday parties can get expensive, I mean all these little things add up right? One thing you should consider, especially if you have young children, is thinking of your gift to them as the party. They are already going to receive gifts from all their friends and family, which is more than enough gifts if you ask me. I would rather spend my time and money on a memorable experience for my children than an expensive gift.
Sometimes it's not always about presents...it's about presence.
